What clients say about North Shore Dressage's Alix Szepesi:

Alix is highly skilled at identifying what the horse and the rider need to accomplish their goals.  She is clearly focused on the riding partnership and has an amazing ability to customize the training program to maximize the partnership’s potential.  Alix has worked with my horse (Emily) since she was a four-year-old green mare and has steadily moved her up the levels at a pace comfortable for her and me.  Emily is now a fourth level school master.  Thanks to Alix, I earned my Bronze medal with Emily in 2008!

Jody Lynn DeStefanis, has trained with Alix since 1998

Alix is an amazing trainer.  In only a few months, she has inspired our horse (Trofedo) to want to improve himself and work hard with her.  Under her expert guidance, he's improving every single day.

Create effective technique:

If you've come to dressage from another discipline, you know the difficulty of developing an effective dressage seat. As a former hunter-jumper rider, my habits were well-entrenched. Alix met me "where I was" and has methodically untangled the old habits I needed to change in order to make the transition successful. She brought me to the beginning without making me feel like a "beginner." Her teaching style always always clear and encouraging.

Find the right horse:

Finding the perfect match of horse and rider may be an elusive proposition, but you can take a great deal of the risk out of the equation by having Alix help you find your next horse. She found the perfect horse for me by using her sharp eye and trained intuition to identify not just a good horse, but a good horse for me: where I was in my training, my goals, and what "mistakes" would need to be tolerated while I learned and developed. When I look around at other horse-rider pairs who are separately good but not so good as a pair I'm reminded how lucky I was to have had Alix's oversight. It was the best investment and the critical success factor to enjoying my horse, not just riding him.

Make winning partnerships:

Alix has an amazing way of assessing hidden talents and untapped potential in all the horses she rides. She has an innate sense of whether the horse can happily, safely and willingly give more, but she isn't afraid to advise an owner when the horse's potential has been reached, and horse or rider safety and well-being is at risk You can count on Alix to advise and do the right thing and the best thing for the horse, not just what is expedient or expected.
