Aquila Farm is situated on ~ 85 beautiful acres in the heart of Hamilton, Massachusetts' historic horse community. The farm has been in operation since the 1750s and continues to serve two important purposes: an organic farm with extensive greenhouses, and an idyllic property for horses.
The modern equine facilities are designed to maximize the physical comfort and mental well being of the horses. Aquila Farm offers over 60 acres of professionally managed all day grass fields for individual or group turnout, along with direct access to miles of ECTA trails. There are additional trails on the property and an 80' by 240' all weather sand outdoor ring installed in 2010. The light, airy barns have extra large windows for superior ventilation. Only 20 stalls ensures individualized care for your horse.
"Aquila" (pronounced 'a-kwila') is the Latin word for Eagle - named for the bird that belonged to Zeus. It is considered king of the air and symbolizes strength, courage, farsightedness and immortality. The farm was named after a well-known local landmark, a statue that can be seen perched over a stone monument next to the First Congregational Church of Hamilton.
Aquila Farm is privately owned by Deirdre H. Pirie who has had a lifetime involvement with horses and went on to represent the U.S. at 5 World Championships in four-in-hand driving.
The multi-discipline stable is professionally managed by Aisling D. Venti.
Aquila Farm is the base of FEI Dressage Trainer Alix Szepesi.
